Kendyn - One Year

Happy 1st Birthday Kendyn!

I can't even believe that it was one year ago today that we went from anxiously awaiting a baby in December to finding out we'd be delivering that baby that same day ...

This was NOT how it was supposed to happen and this is NOT what we'd planned for, but sometimes God has a very different plan for us than we have for ourselves.  

July 14, 2016 is the day that Bill and I officially became parents. We gave birth to our 12.2 oz baby girl, Kendyn, at 11:08 pm.  She was tiny but perfect. We were able to have very precious moments alone with her as well as share her with a few family members and friends.  I am forever grateful that Chrissy offered to come take pictures of her.  I will treasure these pictures for life. 

The week following her birth and death that included planning and having a funeral were horrible.  Heart breaking and horrible.  This is NOT what parents should be doing with their baby.  That whole process was quite the story itself ...

I know I've said it before, but I am grateful that Bill and I are both teachers, so that we were able to have time off after this to grieve and mourn the loss of Kendyn together.  There were lots and LOTS of tears but we were there for each other and that is exactly what we needed.  

I can say that we grew closer and closer together.  I knew I loved Bill and that I would forever love Bill, but love really grows when you watch your husband hold your firstborn baby and when that same man is there for you to fall into when that baby is taken away from you ... 

There's days I wish things could be different and Kendyn could be a part of our family here on earth.  I also know that if we didn't lose Kendyn, we wouldn't have Reagan who is now the light of our lives.  

We have our 12.2 oz Kendyn bear to hold onto while we're hear on Earth.  It's comforting to hold that bear and remember just how heavy Kendyn was.  

God has a plan for us all, and we all have our own crosses to bear. I vow to continue to carry my cross through life and look forward to the day I can hold my sweet Kendyn again and never let her go. 

I also vow to keep Kendyn's spirit alive.  She is a part of our family and she is our first born. Bill and I are proud parents of 2 beautiful girls (and a little dog too)! 

Reagan - Two Months

You're officially 2 months old.  Time sure is flying by but we're loving every minute of having you as a part of our family. 

Height: 22 7/8 in - 64%
Weight: 11lbs 3 oz - 54%
Head Circumference: 16.3 in - 94% 

Yes, our little Miss has quite the big head.  That just has to mean she has a bigger brain :) 

This month:
-You had another foot appointment.  You may have a slight case of metatarsus adductus (which just means the front part of your foot turns in). We were told to continue the stretches and to go back to get it looked at when you're walking.
-You had your hearing test.  You "technically" passed. What does this mean?  You passed the normal range that is tested during the newborn hearing screening, but you didn't pass the additional range added on.  We are going back when you're 6 months to try again.  
-You rolled from belly to back.  You did this on Sunday, June 11 for the first time and Daddy just so happened to catch it on video.  Another time, you did it 5 times in a row but when I went to get my camera.. you stopped.  Stinker! 
-You started sleeping all night (or what we consider all night). You go to bed between 10 and 11 and wake up between 5:30 and 6:30. We are very thankful for rest!  Your naps aren't consistent yet, but we're working on that for sure. 
-You became a "big" cousin, not just once, but twice!  You were able to meet both Maverick and Luke in the same weekend. It made us sad how big you looked!

Cousin Luke

-You've started smiling but are very stingy with those smiles. We love when we see them!  Melts our hearts!
-You attended baseball games. You've been to 2 of Dylan's games and we went to a Peoria Cheifs game on Father's Day.  You may have slept through most of the game, but I think you enjoyed it.

Happy 1st Father's Day

-You had your first overnight away from home and you rocked it!  You slept all night all 3 nights we were staying with Landon. 
-You had a playdate with Adelia, Dean,and Lydia and had a blast! :) 

Likes:
-Snuggles - especially with Mom
-Naps in the Rock and Play
-Swimming (as long as the water is warm enough for you)
-Car rides - you usually just sleep
-Being outside
-Baths
-Music/Singing

Swimming at Grandma's

Dislikes:
-Burping during a bottle
-Being in the carseat but not moving
-Tummy Time
-Hiccups

You're still such a good baby.  We adore you and find ourselves spending time just staring at you. There's still times we can't believe this is our reality.  

We absolutely adore you, Reagan and you've made all our dreams come true!
